Historic Moment: Air Montenegro Becomes Full Member of IATA

15 January 2026

IATA Membership

Air Montenegro has officially become a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the umbrella global organization gathering around 290 airlines and covering 82% of total global air traffic. Admission to this elite society is a confirmation of the quality, reliability, and safety of the Montenegrin national carrier.

What does this mean for passengers?

IATA membership brings direct benefits to our passengers:

  • Single Ticket: The ability to sign "interline" and "code-share" agreements means passengers can buy a single ticket for a journey involving flights by Air Montenegro and other global carriers (e.g., Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines).
  • Through Baggage: No need to reclaim baggage and re-check it during layovers.
  • Lower Prices: Access to the IATA clearing house reduces transaction costs, enabling more competitive ticket prices in the long run.

The company's CEO highlighted the importance of this event: "Being part of the IATA family means carrying our country's flag on the wings of Air Montenegro to any airport in the world, operating under the same rules as the giants of the aviation industry."
